Halloween Costume
GOOD NEWS ABOUT THIS ENTRY will be posted at my daughter's photo blog...see yah!
How nice to hear someone knock on your door and greet you with the familiar “Trick or Treat!” Or it could be you, wearing a Halloween costume and visiting the neighborhood asking for candies and or anything treat they will offer you at the door. But all of these, I’ve only seen in the movies, while I was in the Philippines. I do like this American traditional celebration, because it’s fun. I could only feel the Halloween celebration, when I went to the mall. You will see a lot of decorations, and there are salesladies wearing Halloween costumes too.
Ok, America here I come, let us celebrate the Halloween. Ngek, ngek, my husband doesn’t like this kind of celebration. He said, why are we celebrating on this occasion, are we celebrating the witches? According to him, those are not written in the Bible, and also it is not recognized in the church.
Last year, I was persistent to ask to my husband to buy a Halloween costume for my daughter. You know, I am just a mother, who wants her daughter’s first year to be special. Yup, my daughter had a Halloween costume but, it was only the sunflower and pumpkin design. I was looking forward to buying a scary one; but, you know Mr. KJ did not want it.
However, last night, I said, “happy Halloween Papa”. And you know what he said? “Oh, why haven't we bought a costume for our baby”?
Adaaah…argh!

Oh it must be frustrated you are Raq.. when he says that... I just dont understand why he doesnt like this kind of tradition here..he was born here right so he should know.. Oh poor maria.. well next time you dont have to ask him you wanna buy maria halloween costume because you know what it is really fun watching our own kid trick or treating along with all the children in our neighborhood.. I myself ask before why they celebrate halloween night..our culture long time ago we dont even go to dance, but now a day its new generation.. just like here naa nay disco ug trick or treating didto.... I wouldnt miss andrew to go trick or treating because its fun.. I bought 14 small bags of candies then plus 3 extra large bags of candies and its gone.... Have a good day.. tc
Hi Raq, I think its not really celebrating halloween but its celebrating a harvest. We really dont like dressing up kay hasol na kaayo ug gasto pa jud but last night, we went to Miriam's favorite store, "toys r us" and her dad saw this cute little 1950's outfit that they are on sale so he decided to buy it for her. Last year she never dressed up but she had a blast last night at the mall, trick or treating. She got tons of candies but too bad for her, she cant have any sugar hehehe. We really had fun. I was not able to take pictures of her because she keeps on moving and the pictures will turn out to be blurry. Its okay though, at least she had lots of fun. Wala nalang pod ko nangutana ni bana kung mopalit ba mi kay kabalo ko di sya ganahan. But, it was too late when he said "nganong wala ta nagpalit ug costume for Maria". 1o oclock na sa gabii ayha pa sya ni ingon, nah, nawas-an kog gana, ingon ko sa sunod nalang.
Pakita ko sa picture ni Miriam wearing her 1950's outfit ha, I'm sure she is cute and maybe funny too.

hahahha...tawon sab, mao man ako Raq, maskig usahay moayaw si Joe pero ako magtuman because I am not doing this for myself or for him I'm doing it for my kids and I want them to feel and experience what other kids do during any holidays. Si Joe, sometimes is very KJ kaau but I am not going to get affected...So far, every halloween mag trick or treats sila no matter what lagi...ako boot basta type og feel naku buhaton kay kong dili matuman akong gusto usahay lamig mamutos og dayong lakaw...Mao na kong mag estorya mi ingon dayon ko I never asked anything that worth a fortune (which he don't have) from you so don't be so stingy for little stuff I ask. Busa karon he never said no ... kong for t5he kids nah..Bitaw, ning mga bana usahay makalagot lamig ilisdan "bwahahha".

sakto jud nganong mag celebrate man sa mga witches :) malipay ang devil kay gi celebrate sila. siguro nabasa na sad nimo ang history about halloween. Sa akong pagsabot pagan way sya. Pero ang kitang tawo makiuso sad lagi ba, mao jud na.

Maong wala nalang ko nag ingon sa iya because he was right and I can't contradict especially in religious matters. Pero naay good news, naa nay outfit si Maria. Bahala kunog late na basta kay naa. Bwahahaha, na konsensya cguro. Next year daw mag trick or treat kuno mi sa amo Filipino friends diri.

insakto man si vana...pero sa kids kinahanglan ato sab ipa experience ba. you know what really it depends ra jud sa parents naa mansab diri dili sila mag celebrate ug halloween ug kids understand sab kay gi explain man sa parents. couple of julie's friends ila parents wala sila gipa treat or tricks, but you know what julie was nice enough na gidalhan niya iya miga ug mga candies.

Ay sana nga, I never mention about this celebration to my hubby kase alam ko, he don't like it. It was too late, sinabi nya, bakit daw di namin binilhan si Maria ng outfit...hay nako mga asawa talaga. Kaya ayun, sabi nya bilhan ko raw. I will share her photos later.

i got to experience "Trick or Treat"-ing twice while in Pinas. one year, i dressed up in a costume, and the next one i didn't even bother. i just went with my friend and we were both in regular clothes. this year, i was in school when the kids started knocking at our door. when i got home, the festivity was waning & it seemed like there was a curfew in my neighborhood. hehe. kaya next year nalang ulit siguro.
your hubby has a point. pagan holiday kasi ang halloween. but it's just for fun. the trick or treaters aren't associating with witchcraft anyway. just an excuse to eat lots of candy. hehe.
so what did maria dress up as this year?
During my time, limited lang ang sayahan samin, Mindanao kase, hehehe. Pero ngau ata, marami ng celebration. Kitams, tatayuan nila ng Ayala Mall ang city namin....hehehe.
Buti nga si Maria meron costume si Mayumi ko wala pa! She's too small to do trick or treat but will buy her later on! I am excited to see her with those costumes on ! Hey I was checking Maria's site but always failed, how come???
