Unable to Post

Sometimes, being secretive is not good if you are in the blogoshpere. No one loves to read a ghost blog, isn’t it? Readers are already part of our extended family. So, if you don’t share and tell to your friends who you are, and your family, then you better stop blogging.

I know how frustrating and discouraging to visit a blog without any updates. The consistency in the frequency of posting is very important in order the readers not to confuse.

What discourages me for not posting lately? Ok, if you will share something, people think you are bragging. If your writings are poor, people say, what a shame.

If I will listen all of these, how will I learn and gain friends?

Oh, by the way, I might to switch to wordpress, the blogger is driving me nuts. I hope, the queen of wordpress is generous enough to help me.

Taking Advantage Of #2

This is in continuation of my previous post.

So far, of all the hotels we had stayed at in the Philippines, they were charging a domestic rate. But if I used my husband’s name on the bills, it would automatically charge to an international rate.

To be specific, the hotels in Manila that I am talking about are the Heritage Hotel, Pavillon Hotel, and Bayview. They have domestic and international rates, so if you will come to this place be sure to ask the tariff rate first before checking in.

I remember, according to the Heritage Hotel, if I could not prove my Filipino citizenship by presenting a Philippine ID, they would not honor my credit card to avail the local rate. It was a good thing, I still have my two ID’s with my maiden name and address on it.

In Davao City, the resort I was referring to was the Pearl Farm Resort. They should not do that; because, in the first place, I was the one who made the reservation not my husband.

Taking Advantage Of

An American or a foreigner’s wife living in the Philippines can have its advantages. She can live like a queen, acquiring privileges and special treatment wherever she goes. If people think she is rich, then they will respect her more than an ordinary person. But there are disadvantages too. I will share a few of my experiences, while I was in the Philippines with my hubby.

At a resort somewhere in Davao City, I made reservations for a couple. With accommodations for three days and two nights stay, including roundtrip transfers at the airport. The package plan was only Php 17,800. Wow! It was a good deal and a reasonable price too. So, I decided to get the package without my husband’s approval; because, I can see the price was not to expensive, and I knew he would agree with me. The resort receptionist asked for my name and credit card number. Suddenly, they increased the price from Php17,800 to Php27,000. Why did the price change?! Because the name on the credit was not a Filipino surname, and the person who was going to be with me is a foreigner. Even though the credit card had my name on it, they would not allow me to make a reservation. Their excuse was that it is the policy of the owner’s of the resort to charge foreigners a higher price.

One, two or three hotels in Manila have the same style as in Davao City, so I would say, most hotels in the Philippines have the same policy.

I don’t know if the government knows all about this policy of the hotels. I think this is not a good example for good relations to the foreigners who want to stay in the Philippines, because most business establishments are taking advantage them. And foreigner’s are not as dumb as they may think that they are, and they become offended.

If the country that we visit would do the same thing to us, then we would not have the privileges the same we enjoyed now.

New Theme

I played around with my old template and layout, yup I figured out the problem. But instead, I decided to change that theme to this.

This is a free theme from multiply and designed by Jeff Miller. I only changed a little of the codes provided by blogger.

A warm welcome to my new Retro Theme, I hope this layout will make me write more.

The Lake House

Is anyone have seen The Lake House? I rented it from blockbuster the other night but I just finished watching the movie tonight with my hubby. The movie itself was a romantic, touching and somewhat corny though. However, what touched me the most was the soundtrack "This Never Happened Before" by Paul McCartney.

Sandra Bullock’s appearance of this movie is really great.
