Things of Comfort

Yesterday, it’s nearly 3 in the morning and I’ve been up since 9am. I don’t know why I’m so awake, I should be on the bed because hubby was working that time.

I’ve been walking around the apartment from bedroom to kitchen. Everytime I passed by in the kitchen, I kept on opening the fridge, looking for food. I was looking for something to eat to satisfy my hunger but I can’t find anything instant food except eggs. You know we don’t practice stocking unhealthy foods in the fridge because hubby and me are trying to lose weight.

Believe me, early in the morning at five, this was my breakfast meal. I spent for an hour to cook this food. It’s a Filipino style chicken soup. I didn’t realize I was craving of Filipino cuisine. It’s a long time of continuous adjustment to the kind of lifestyle I'm not so used to. I think it’s just normal to miss alot of things in the place where I was born and raised.

Computer Shutdown

It has happened twice last night while I was writing an entry to post for today, suddenly the computer shutdown. I really hate this when it happened. The computer has been running for over 24 hours; I guess, that was the problem of shutting down. I don’t have any power back-up so all of my unsaved data was lost, I can't retrieve those files anymore. What a waste of time man.

Right now, I don’t have the urge to re-write it.

Fries and Catsup

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving day yesterday, filled with lots of food and family. We were going to spend the Thanksgiving at my hubby’s family in Virginia; but, we decided to stay and had Thanksgiving dinner at Cracker Barrel.

We were surprised to see our daughter eating the way she did; because, she did something new again! She was sitting on a high chair, and she was served with fries and catsup on a saucer. While we were eating, I saw my daughter dipping her fries in catsup. She did it so perfectly, like she knew and had done it many times before; she perfectly picked up the piece of potato and dipped it in the catsup and put it to her mouth, again and again. However, this was a first for her. So, me and hubby had a big smile on our face; because, we were seeing her doing that for the first time, and it made her look so grown up. She was serious about eating her fries and dipping them in the catsup.

Soon, she will become an independent.

Anyway, today in America is the first day of Christmas shopping season. I am planning to go to the mall and enjoy the crowd. I am not going for a shopping though, I just want enjoy the day and watch people buying stuff.

Challenge Me

I was typing my username and password, then trying to think what to write in this blog. Oh gosh, it was a long time for me to think what to write. I need some inspiration to write more.

I think I'm just tired of being a full time home mom, tired of my daily routine. I wanted to work but when would that be? When my baby is ready for school? What a decade of waiting. Oh, Jesus, have mercy!

Children Supplements

In this entry, I have so many questions about good nutrition for our children. Children should take vitamins for proper nutrition; this is because so many kids don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables.

Every time I take my daughter to her Pediatrician, I ask if she needs vitamin and mineral supplements. According to the Doctor, she can still get those vitamins with her milk and the foods she eats.

I observed children in the Philippines, especially infants; parents already started giving them vitamins. As for me, I am worried for my 18 month old daughter, because I have not given her any supplements since she was born. We did give her iron drops in her breast milk, but she started on formula with iron later. I don’t know if it is the right time to give her something to balance her diet.

Sometimes, my daughter eats the same food that we do. But, most of her intake is milk.

Coloring Board & Pencils

I know children are curious about their surroundings, and they try to experience everything they can. It is normal when they are acting strange, and my child is not exception. She is my first child and 18 months old. If my daughter will do something new, the excitement is always there, and I am very happy to see it. I kept on saying…What is next, is she going to talk or what?

After the vandalism, I rushed to the store and bought her a new coloring board & pencils. For the first ten minutes, I showed and explained to her how to use the materials. I was guiding her hand to use the pen in any direction. But after that, she was tired because she wanted to do it by herself. So, I decided to let her do it alone.

She was enjoying painting all over her body. Her legs, feet, hands and lips were all painted with coloring pencils. I knew it would happen, but I just let her. It was a good thing that the coloring pencils are non-toxic and washable.

After two hours she got tired and went to sleep.

Vandalism

Hello all! Sorry I didn't' show up for four (4) days. It is because I am now involved with new projects on the computer.

Anyway, I think this is another milestone for my daughter. Two months ago she graduated from not tearing her books.

Then last night, she found something new. She was so quite, I thought, something was wrong with her. But then, this is what she did on the mats. Image 1 Image 2

Until here, sorry I can't write more.

Sleeping Pattern

To answer a few questions:

I haven’t really told you about me and my daughter’s sleeping pattern. It is really strange because she will sleep between 5 to 6am and get up between 3 to 4pm. And me, between 6 to 7am and get up between 1 to 2pm.

How did it happen? Hubby is studying again just to get a high paying job. I hope he will be finish schooling by August 2007.

I feel bad for my hubby because he don’t have enough time for himself. Most of the time he is studying and the schedule in school and work are very hectic. From Monday to Friday at 7am to 3pm, he is in school or in clinical. Then Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 5pm to 7am, he is working.

Most of the night from 11pm to 5am my hubby is studying. During that time, my daughter and I are awake.

PS: I do all the shopping, hmmm you know what I mean about this, I am the boss. Get it?

Tagged #7: Five Weird Things

I got tagged by Jo on this thing that's going around.

At first I thought, how can I ever have weird things about me? But when I think and make a list, I can’t stop listing but the rule, I will only list 5. I don’t have pets and also I am not that picky when it comes to eating. So here’s a few weird but true facts about me.

  1. Secretive: First, my parents did not know when I went to Singapore. Second, my co-workers did not know when my Mama died, they found out only from my direct boss. Third, my co-workers and friends did not know my relation and when I first met of my foreign boyfriend, whom my husband now, they just found out after two years when I left from the Philippines.

  2. My Hair: Ever since, I can’t go out from the house if my hair is wet. I always maintain with a lot of stuff. Usually, when I wash my hair, I don’t wash it properly so that the chemicals will absorb on my scalp until I ended up now with this product. I know it's a kind of maarte but that's the way I am.

  3. I never satisfied with anything, I keep on looking something new.

  4. I'm only thrifty on stuff I don’t like…but when it comes to the things I like, I go broke.

  5. Sleeping Pattern: I go to bed between 6 and 7am and I get up between 1 and 2pm.
BONUS:
  1. Fart Sniffer: I know this is yucky, but, I like to smell my own fart.
So, those are my 6 weird things! I hope you will know me a little bit of these information.

Halloween Costume

GOOD NEWS ABOUT THIS ENTRY will be posted at my daughter's photo blog...see yah!

How nice to hear someone knock on your door and greet you with the familiar “Trick or Treat!” Or it could be you, wearing a Halloween costume and visiting the neighborhood asking for candies and or anything treat they will offer you at the door. But all of these, I’ve only seen in the movies, while I was in the Philippines. I do like this American traditional celebration, because it’s fun. I could only feel the Halloween celebration, when I went to the mall. You will see a lot of decorations, and there are salesladies wearing Halloween costumes too.

Ok, America here I come, let us celebrate the Halloween. Ngek, ngek, my husband doesn’t like this kind of celebration. He said, why are we celebrating on this occasion, are we celebrating the witches? According to him, those are not written in the Bible, and also it is not recognized in the church.

Last year, I was persistent to ask to my husband to buy a Halloween costume for my daughter. You know, I am just a mother, who wants her daughter’s first year to be special. Yup, my daughter had a Halloween costume but, it was only the sunflower and pumpkin design. I was looking forward to buying a scary one; but, you know Mr. KJ did not want it.

However, last night, I said, “happy Halloween Papa”. And you know what he said? “Oh, why haven't we bought a costume for our baby”?

Adaaah…argh!
