Conditional Reward

Have you ever experienced that your husband or someone else will give you a reward if you will do the favor that they are asking from you? This is about a request that cannot be accomplished overnight.

I think most of you here know that I have a weight gaining problem, after the pregnancy of my daughter. My hubby is very supportive of me, and he helps encourage me when I try to lose weight. I know he wants me to be happy. He bought some exercise machines for me. But you know the disadvantage of having these in your house, you bury them in the dust and stack thing on them, and you never have the energy to dig them out and use them; you see them everyday, and you have the habit of saying, I will do it later.

Then one day, I asked him, if it’s ok that I will enroll in YMCA. He paid for a family membership; because he wanted me to be happy and involved with other people too. I did lose weight but not enough for me to get back to my original goal, but I am getting closer.

Ten months ago, I was on vacation in the Philippines and returned on July 2006. I was there for three (3) months; I spent all of my time with my family. So, most of the time, I was with my baby, and I did the cooking for the family. And I didn’t hire a helper to watch my daughter. Then I had a thought, if I will hire someone, then I would have time for myself also.

When I came back, I became lazy especially in going to the gym. So my hubby is worried, because he sees me all the time on the computer. He wants me to go back again and have an active life. He knows I regretted that I didn’t hire someone to baby sit with my daughter, while I was in the Philippines.

Last night, he asked me to go back to the gym or else he will cancel the membership. He gave me a condition, and I was interested in what he said. By the way, he knows my heart is still in the Philippines. So, he said that if I will lose 20 lbs, he will send me anytime, and I will also decide when to come back. Sounds good huh?!

This morning, I went swimming and did the cardio in the afternoon. I arrived home, and there was hubby laughing with me about the conditional reward. He said I am not doing it for myself but for the reward.

Are You a Perfectionist?

I wasn't really sure what to write about today so I decided to join the Blogthings Quiz.

I have a little issue with the perfectionism. Yes I am, but only on other basis. Being a perfectionist is not good and healthy for us either. I would disagree this test I took from Blogthings.

Partially it’s true in particular with computer stuffs, my blog, layout and my other web pages.

You Are 74% Perfectionist

You are a true perfectionist. You are both demanding of yourself and others. While it's great to have goals and standards, they don't need to be sky high!

Archives of a Blog

I have just realized, if you want a person to get to know you better, the archives of a blog are a big help.

We are in a blog world, and we will meet a lot of friends everyday. Sometimes, we don’t care anymore about the new comers, because we are already satisfied and contented with our old friends. And also, it is tiring to ask personal questions about a person.

But if we are interested, then we must know how to get to know the person. How, by asking questions or reading their blog?

Two months ago, I met a new friend in my blog. We become friends, and we visited each others blogs. She is not hard to become a friend to. She is easy go lucky, she always laughs, she is frank, and straightforward. And her blog is very smooth to read. If you will spend time by reading 2 to 3 postings, you will know how nice she is.

Yesterday, we exchanged emails; we have been talking about blogging etiquette. Then she reached the point of reading some of my archives. And she left more than five messages in each posts. I think by just reading the archive she already knows a lot about me.

Wow! I was overwhelmed with happiness; because she took the time to read my stories. In return, I went to her blog, to read her old posts. And I found out we have so much in common. She wrote one article there about her family that touches my heart.

By displying the archives of a blog can help you to share with a person whom might become your friend.

Update: She just finished reading the 2005 Archives.

A Good Eater

What does my daughter love to eat? Well, let's see now...cheese, bread stick from Captain D’s, and anything Mom and Dad are eating in our own little bowls while sitting on the dining table (usually ice cream), and of course, she loves spaghetti and choco milk! I'm so lucky to have a daughter who enjoys food even more than I do. She is a big help to me in preparing the spaghetti for us. She even decided after the pot was full of noodles, that we needed just a few more, so she shoved them in, too.

I let her help with dinner every night, so now, when she sees me in the kitchen, she'll run in yelling, "Up, up!" and expect to get scooped up and be let stir or add something. She's such a good help, and I love watching her trying to help me.

An old photos of her.

Missing in Action

Tadaaa, I’m back! I haven’t been blogging for five days but a thought it was a month ago. I’ve been thinking about having a break on blogging for a month or two but I haven’t come to any 100% decision yet, that is why I didn’t post a word “hiatus”. I know myself, as what they said, women are changeable mind, I think I am one of those. Oh, you just don't know how much I have missed blogging, reading blogs, surfing, wasting time. Hmmm…I suppose some of you have missed me, hehehe.

I simply don't know where to start. For five days in silence, my laziness at home was over. What I mean in laziness; like, I mean doing housework of course, watching TV, sleeping most of the day, I didn’t cook and for not using internet, but, the temptation is always there!

Oh well…goodbye lazy days, I am back to normal again.

I would like to apologize to those of you who didn’t receive a reply from this entry “The Notebook”. I want to thank everyone who stopped by and who have been patient with my absence.

I wish you all the best of health! Enjoy blogging!

New Keyboard & Mouse

Goodbye wireless keyboard and wireless mouse. I am not been happy with this keyboard and mouse set although it’s convenient and easy to use. It happened many times, while I was chatting with my family in the Philippines, when my keyboard wasn’t working, I realized the keyboard had out of battery and I can’t find anything to replace to a new energize and powerful battery, hehehe. This is the problem when you are the middle of nowhere.

I went to Best Buy and bought a new keyboard and zooming mouse. The prize was good enough, I’m really glad that I have it. It is so much faster than the old one and it really does look great.

Goodbye Lazy Days

My lazy days at home are officially over as I am now turning my workout at “Y” from Monday to Friday. By lazy time I mean doing housework of course, not sleeping, watching TV or going on the internet (but the temptation is always there!). I have a routine now with different classes which I will do two workouts in a day. I am really pleased I have got enough workout and keeping busy. The YMCA made a nice schedule this winter.

I have had 2 quiet days, Saturdays and Sundays. I do my treadmill in home, sometimes, it's nice to workout if my hubby and my daughter are watching me running on the treadmill.

The Notebook

Every woman I know claims this movie is great and I do the same. But my hubby said, this is the chickiest chick flicks movie he had ever watched. I don't blame him, it is really for women, he-he-he.

I saw this movie a year ago, it was my sister's recommendation, long after it had hit on theaters. The sweetest thing in the movie had to be the undying love the guy showers to his sweetheart, staying with her, by her side, taking care of her, loving her, even when his sweetheart no longer recognizes him.

I started sobbing when they where die together? The bittersweet “til death do us part” where the couple, now old and failing in health, spent their last few moments together, holding hands until they breathe last breath.

I was determined not to cry, and did well throughout the whole thing until the last ten seconds of the movie. It was when the nurse left their hands alone - that's when I lost it and began crying.

Custom Domains

The Blogger announced that they support this new feature called “Custom Domains”. If you own a domain called http://mysite.com and want your blog to be served at that address of a http://mysite.blogspot.com , instead of FTP publishing, the blogger will host it for you for free. As you might know, FTP publishing can only be used with old blogger templates. By using the Custom Domain, you can enjoy ton of advantages in the new blogger. One major thing is Access control, if you'd like, only let people you choose read your blog.

I am just disappointed about this feature of blogger and it seems I have some trouble at the moment; and I discontinued this update. Before to make a big decision, having a trial and error blog is a good thing, I guess!

Sometimes, I am thinking of moving to Wordpress. So far WP has a lot better than blogger. Has a cool utility for importing your blog posts and comments. And you will also get a lot of themes and plug-ins.

Is it goodbye to blogger and hello to Wordpress?

Not to me, every blog provider has there own advantages and disadvantages. WP is good but the feature that I am looking for is not there, blogger have it. With this updates of blogger is driving me crazy, well, let us see, how long my patience to be part of this team. I am not a runner yet but I'm still fighting to it.

The Great Escape

I'm having an internal blog update, I can't post and publish any entry. Be back posting on Wednesday.

Does the title sound familiar to you? It is the title of an old war movie filmed in 1963. But this time, there is a remake, starring my daughter.

When she was six months old, my husband and I decided to build a 2 feet wall around our bedroom, for her safety. We put a mattress on the floor to keep our daughter from falling out of the bed. We did not care where we slept as long as it was safe for her.

I would say, she is considered a toddler now. She gets all enthusiastic about climbing everything. She loves climbing whatever’s nearby: the chairs, tables, toys and everything she can climb on and with. No matter how many times I have tried to stop her, the more determined she is to climb. I think that she has been planning her Great Escape.

It’s been a week now since she’s been climbing over the wall. Suddenly, I was surprised and scared; because, someone grabbed my skirt! I was relieved to see that it was only my daughter. I saw how happy she was. I was pretty sure; no one had helped her to escape from behind the wall; but I had no evidence. At last, I caught her in the act! I took a photo of her last night. I think it was cute and funny, so I want to include some of the evidence of her Great Escape.

Blogger Smilies!

Sometimes, I love adding smileys in my blogs or postings. So I could tell whether I am kidding or serious, happy or sad and excited or bored. It is also a great way to spice up our thoughts and show to our friends what we really feel and without saying "I am happy" or "I am bored".

This is cool, I found the solution. Aditya, provides a script to add smilies to blogger post. All you have to do is add the script after the head code in your template, then save and publish your blog. That’s it, very simple.

Give me a try with these smilies!

Biyahe Tayo (Let's Travel)

Some of you do not know this video of what they are singing. The song is all about travel, to where your next destination to travel in the Philippines. The Department of Tourism, are promoting this song Biyahe Tayo (Let's Travel) and inviting Filipinos and foreigners to tour around the Philippines.

They did a good job on this video plus you can still sing along because they put a subtitles on it. Just have to see it for yourself. It’s a great video, nice song and a great country. There is no place like to be home.

I would like to say thank you to Cruise and Sasha for giving me an idea of some of these places. So, my future plans are: Shrine of Valor in Bataan, Hundred Islands in Pangasinan, Boracay the Province of Aklan and Mc Arthur Park in Leyte.

So, where are you heading next?

Simple Words

Perhaps, most men but not all, are not interested in taking the time to send letters to their family and friends. Most of the time, the wife is in-charge for writing cards and letters for holiday greetings or any other occasional event. For some reason, men are too busy. Maybe it is because they are working for the family, so they don’t have the time. Or could it be this job is for women only.

When I was young, I observed my mom writing letters and cards and sending them to our family and friends. Every time my parents sent us a letter, it was always written in my mom’s handwriting. All of my sisters and I were far away from our parents by the age of ten, and also my brother at the age of five. So our means of communication was writing cards and letters and sending them by snail-mail. At that time, telephones and cell phones were not popular or available, and it was expensive to make a long distance call.

Every birthday celebration and Christmas holiday, I had always received a card from my mom with a very nice message on it. Three years ago she passed away. I have noticed that there is a big difference when mother passed away. So who would write the cards and letters now?

If it is left up to my father, it is too big a responsibility for him? My father’s personality reveals him to be quiet yet strong; but he is soft spoken. I can’t resist sharing about what I got in the mail today. I have received a Christmas Card, from none other but my father. The words were simple but yet it touched and made my heart melt. This is the very first time I received a Christmas card from him. I almost had to cry.

My Favorite Color

I found a meme called Blogthing Quiz, I thought it was interesting and decided to do it. I don't usually do these things, blah blah...so, here it is.

You Are Apple Red

You're never one to take life too seriously, and because of it, you're a ton of fun.

And although you have a great sense of humor, you are never superficial.

Deep and caring, you do like to get to the core of people - to understand them well.

However, any probing you do is light hearted and fun, sometimes causing people to misjudge you.

Publishing via FTP

Hi Jo, I made this entry for you and to those who are interested on how to publish on your own ISP server.

Down there, you will see the screen shot when I transfered my blog via FTP. On step #1, you will see "sample"; that is my question how my domain provider transfered the http://sample.blogspot.com to http://raqmitch.com. I think you will ask your provider or experts of this matter.

Resolutions for 2007

Last year, I only made one New Year's resolution and that was to stop drinking soda/cola. Did I stick to it? Well...yes! And it’s been almost four (4) years without having a soda and I still don’t taking a single sip, hard to believe huh? Now, hubby and I never buy soda; we never have really. I'm proud of myself for helping hubby not to drink too, for over 26 months he hasn't had drinking.

So this new year... let's see... what would I like to change? Well... I'll break it down to you.

I want to cook more. The past year, I haven't cooked much like I used to. I always used to cook everyday. But this year I want to start cooking more for sure for the sake of my daughter. She should eat healthy and fresh than having instant foods.

Me: Oh yeah... can't forget about me! LOL I want to exercise more. Even, if it's just jog and walk five miles a day. I need to keep my eating habit under control. I do hope that if I do get pregnant again, I can still get my exercise by just walking. Eat healthier.

Things I don't plan to change: Blogging everyday, 10 times a day!!! Ha-ha-ha!

That's pretty much it. I can't think of anything else.
