Cold and Flu Season
Cold season is upon my household. Both the kids are sniffling. It started with my eldest; then she passed it to my one month old baby. Both of them are feeling better now, but I think, hubby is getting sick too. I am the only one who is not sick; I hope that I will not acquire this cold, because it will be a misery for me.
We went to our Pediatrician; there were many children in the sick waiting area. Not all of them had the same type of illness, but they were all sick. I think, cold and flu season has come early this year. Be safe, cold and flu can last for a long time, and it is just around the corner. A virus is more active in the colder weather because of its ability to survive in less humid conditions.
Keep the humidity up in the house, this will help settle the dust that carry bacteria and viruses; remember that fresh clean smell after a good rain! The humidity helps to clean the air. Also, because of the “dry” air, viruses and bacteria are attracted to environments that we provide. Notice that static build up when it is cold and dry outside, just touch your car when you get out and you will notice a shock. The same but warm environment builds up static from clothes dryer. They humidity that you add to the air can get rid of this static build up; and the attraction that those germs have for us is also lessened.
Winter is coming, stay warm!
They had gone to more than one doctor for fertility workups. They had many laboratory tests, and they had been taking vitamins. But it didn't work. One day, they went to an experienced doctor. The doctor advised them to stop all the medications that they had been taking. The doctor wanted to know if the woman was producing eggs without the hormones that she had been taking. In just two months of observation, she got pregnant!
It's time for me to pass some treats. The rule is to choose, at random, friends or visitors to give an award. This is difficult for me to pick who will be awarded; because I have had so many favorite friends. As my random picks, I am giving this award to:
Drawing upon that experience, I was and am expecting the same thing with my second newborn baby. But, until now, I am wrong. The second baby tends to sleep a lot, during day or night. I've had a hard time for the first two weeks, that is, from a nursing point of view; because she didn't get enough milk. For some reason, after five minutes of nursing, she was knocked out, warm (not cold), and fell to sleep. Every hour or two I woke her up, just to nurse her. I did not understand. So, after seeking a doctor's advice, I started to unwrap her from her blanket each time I fed her. He also suggested that we wipe her with a cold wet cloth. This usually helps to stimulate her a little, so that she will stay awake a little longer to feed more.
Whew! After a long process and stress to all of us, yesterday she initiated to poop in the potty.
Down there was supposed to be posted on September 30, 2007 at 3:12 a.m.; but something happened, and I could not think of anything except my hubby. Around 3:30 in the morning my amniotic fluid broke. Hubby was not there; but after one call, he arrived like in a blink of an eye. On September 30, 2007 at 9:37 AM, I gave birth to a second child.
During my first pregnancy, I was told, by my certified nurses mid-wife and pregnancy class facilitator, that those are the signs of labor. I was looking for these sign, but with that in mind, I did not experience even one of them. My contractions were irregular, from between 30 minutes to 1 hour apart. So, misinformed, how could I tell if I was in labor? I was in pain and had not slept for three (3) nights and four (4) days. Then, I could no longer tolerate the pain; so I went to my Ob-Gyn, and I had them check. They confirmed, my cervix was dilated to 4 cm, and I was in labor! If I were to rely on the signs that they had told me to look for, I think I would have dropped the baby without them! In fact, they had to give me
