Preschooler Activities

My daughter will be three (3) years old in May 2008. At this age, she is ready for school, as a Pre-K student. Pre-K is not obligatory for you to enroll your children; but if you want to expose them to other kids and in preparation for Kindergarten, it is advisable to do so.

Hubby and I have decided to enroll our daughter in Pre-K for the school year of August-May 2009. In preparation for this, I started introducing and teaching my daughter for Pre-K learning activities. As a mom-teacher, it is hard for me to teach a very young innocent child. My daughter cannot hold still and does not pay attention. Then I came up with different ideas, just to catch her attention. Everytime we played together, I was teaching her too; we were only playing, but she did not know that was already a part of her learning.

I have also searched on the internet about Pre-K learning activities. It says that one of the first things to do is to teach them by saying, writing and spelling their name. So everytime I asked her name, I wrote it on a dry erase board or paper. By the way, she knows how to turn on, log in, and off her computer; so I have installed a password, using her name so she will know the letters. She can also spell words whether capitalized or lower case letters. I did everyting, but she could only say her name.

Before we went to sleep on November 22, 2007, at one in the morning, I asked my 29 months old daughter to spell her name. WOW! All of a sudden she spelled her name. Up to know she still doing it.

Monetized Blogs

Blogs are a source of income nowadays. I have observed; most of the blogs of my friends are already monetized. My favorite bloggers have their blogs commercialized too. When I was surfing and reading the blogs of others, it discouraged me; I lost interest in visiting their blogs, because of the many advertisements and commercials.

I am still visiting their blogs and do comment on their personal entries. One instance, I left a comment on a monetized blog, and I felt that my comment had been neglected. I may be wrong, but that is how I feel. I think in a blog, too many adds would be a cause of taking for granted the comments of visitors. Not all have the same situation, but possibly, this is one of the reasons. From that time, I began to be picky and able to distinguish a professional blogger.

Each of us have different objectives and priorities in life. My priority is my family. I wish, I could have more time to do this thing too; but my children are still young, and they need more attention than anything else.

After reading of Ghee’s and Jo’s blog, I am convinced, because they state their earnings! I have also heard from Carlota and Bless, that some bloggers will earn from $100 to $1,400, in just two months. Wow! As a homemaker, $100 is a lot of money for me.

So, I am considering this opportunity, in the future. I have one blog that has a page rank but not much. I think, I will work on that and keep it updated. Memories Frozen in Time and Photographic Memories will remain as my personal blogs.

Tagged #9: Link to Keywords

I’ve been tagged by Zam of Verb; lucky this meme does not ask too many personal questions.

If you want more traffic in your blog, I think, this meme will help you. Using keywords on your website helps your blog to be found by a search engine. For example, if you have an article about health, family, or pets, using those keywords enables anyone to find your blog. The more specific you are can increase the use of a particular word to lead directly to your blog.

Here are my picks:

Here, I am tagging five bloggers who have blogs that are monetized: Bless, Ghee, Heidi, Mimi and Sasha.

INSTRUCTIONS:
    1. Post 5 links to 5 of your previously written posts. The posts have to relate to the 5 keywords given below (family, friend, yourself, your love and anything you like).

    2. Tag 5 other friends to do this meme. Try to tag at least 2 new acquaintances (if not, your current blog buddies will do) so that you get to know them each a little bit better.

    3. Don’t forget to read the archived post and leave comments.

Halloween Princess

This is a late update of my daughter's Halloween costume.

If you are regular reader of this blog you will not be surprised of my story when it comes to Halloween celebration. You know, my husband doesn't like this traditional thing, as for him, it's ridiculous. He don't want our daughter to join this celebration too. Somewhat, I always insist in buying of Halloween costume for my daughter. This year, hubby didn't say anything but to support me.

Halloween can be a fun experience for our children. Why not join them in this occasion with other kids too.

Bizarre Foods

Have you ever tasted balut? It is a common food in the Philippines. Some people will eat this food in the dark; because balut has a gross texture and appearance. But it is full of proteins and vitamins. As someone said, once you have tasted it, you can't stop from eating.

We, Filipinos are brave enough, to eat strange foods. We like eating the internal organs, like barbecued animal intestine, gizzard, heart, kidney, testicles & etc. We know, all of these foods are unhealthy, but we still love eating it.

Professional traveler, Andrew Zimmern of the Travel Channel, visited the Philippines. The next episode of bizarre foods will be featured on Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at 8:00 pm ET. With his first stop, he will eat our famous balut. As what he said about this food: “It’s the strangest food I’ve ever tasted in my entire life. BUT it is a lot better than what I thought it would be. The juice in there (sucking the juice out ‘till the moment a small crack appears) is the funky thing.”

After searching for images of balut, now I understand, the reason why, most foreigners have a fear of eating this kind of food.
