Communication Problems
A week ago, we went to our pediatrician for a well check-up and to receive vaccinations for my youngest daughter. At the waiting area there were two children playing, they were ages 6 and 3 years old. Again, I started to compare my 3 year old daughter to the other 3 year old child. The 3 year old girl was talking a lot and was communicating well with her mom and her sister. My daughter is almost 3 year old, but she isn’t fully talking yet. To tell the truth, she talks a lot, but she talks mostly in unintelligible baby talk. She has a small vocabulary, but she doesn’t speak many complete sentences. When she does attempt to say something, it’s not very clear what she’s trying to say. But with my coaching, she can say sentences after me and understands what I say, and she responds.
She is very intelligent, especially when it comes to problem solving and puzzles in the computer. She can read and repeat sentences after me. She learns everything very fast, except for talking. She is quite smart and right with everything else, and she understands what you are asking her to do. Should I be worried about this? Ease my troubled mind.

15 Had something to say...:
Hi Raquel, thanks for visiting me in my blog. You should visit the rest of my blog so you can see andrew's birthday photos.
Regarding the issue of your daughter. You should check have her evaulated in school specially if you are planning to send her in pre-school. Public school have a lot of benefits for Maria like speech delayed like teaching her in vocabulary how to use it. I know she can talk and response well, but it's better to have her evaluate in school specially this time of the year naa silay pre-school screening in school. Dili siya speech dili pero ang vocabulary naa problema pero normal na sa mga bata labi na walay mga ka interact na mga bata parehas pod sa iyaa or older. Ang problema ni Andrew kay vocabulary biya. So far so good his doing very kay naa man siya speech therapy sa school nila since pre-k. Wala pa namo gipa undang kay dili pa mi satisfied sa iyang inistoryahan. Ingon ang teacher niya na his doing well kono pero well see kung ok na siya end of this year dayon paundangon na namo. Ipa enrolled na si Maria ug pre-school kay 3 years old na para pod masocialized siya sa mga bata ka edad niya kaysa naara sa balay. Lahi man good ang interaction sa ginikanan. Ang uban kay dili man motoo anang naay delayed ang bata pero. I seen a lot of kids in pre-school na naa gyod delayed kay ang vocabulary dili parehas sa uban. Ang mga bata man pod nga naay oldest sibling dali ra pod maka storya ug naay daghang communication sa igsoon ug ginikanan. Na sige good luck.
Hello manay! Wala akong firsthand experience sa ganyan but my sister has a degree in pre school teaching and special education. There are tests daw that can be given to Maria to solve your dilemma. They can tell you the whys and the hows.
Hope this helps :)
Happy Wednesday, Raq!
Hi Raquel,
You shouldn't be worried. Each child's development is different from one another. Some child could be talkative but doesn't know her ABCs or 123s yet.
But if it really bothers you, maybe you should ask you pedia about your concerns.
Hi,
I am running Time Capsule tag. I hope you can join with me. Feel free to play or not. Thanks
My friend's daughter is just like her. In her case, the reason is that they use many languages at home (Japanese, English, Tagalog, and Bisaya) so I think her daughter was just confused. But after sending her to nursery school, the problem seem to disappear. Now, her daughter speaks fluent Japanese. :D
My three year old son does the same thing! He turned three about two months ago. It's been mostly babble, but I am starting to hear more distinct words. He too is extremely smart, but just not a big talker. I'm sure this is normal. Every child is different! They just talk when they decide to!
hi there im here
hi, just passed by and wish u a happy weekend.
kids develop in different paces. so don't worry.. better visit a professional to better ease your mind
my bf's sister has a 2 and 1/2 year old kiddo...I was surprised when I found out that he can only "mama" and nothing else. I was secretly worried about it and told bf bout my observation. But he just gave a cold shoulder. then after a while my bf recounted that the kiddo can now converse very well.
Hi Raquel! I understand about your concern with Maria but I think that is something that you should not worry about. I don't think she has any vocabulary problems or something like that. When I heard her reading, I was so blown away and she can pronounce words very clearly. She is indeed a gifted child. You guys are so blessed to have a smart child like her. I am sure that one of these days, you'll be surprised how she can talk a lot and very clearly. She's still on the "learning to say" stage right now. Just keep working on her just like you did with her alphabets and reading. You're amazing Momma! Take care my friend. Keep this blog lively, okay? HEHEHEHE
hello Raquel,
how are you first of all.. i hope all is well, i think your girl's situation will soon be okay.. i mean, siguro its not her time yet na makasalita but i'm sure she's trying her best too... like my nephew he can speak fluently but sometimes there are words na parang siya ang gumagawa... alam mo na...
doing my daily rounds and God Bless
hi kmusta? hope everything is fine. just passing by here and sending a warm greetings. have a great day.
Amazing Life
I had the same problem with my son! Don't worry Raquel in time she will catch up, kids have different rhythm. Don't be too harsh on yourself and to her she will all have the time to learn ! Just be patient what is important by now is her comprehension ability! Good luck !
My 2-1/2 year old daughter is also not yet talking in full sentences. She sometimes say "water" or "dede" or "mama" but not words you'd expect for a child her age. Her older brother was already talking in full sentences at the age of 1 so I was getting worried. She can count and can recite the ABCs though, so I'm not so worried. Maybe our toddlers are just having information overload and their vocabulary skills are having a hard time catching up from the other developments.
