Teaching Good Manners

As we all know, teaching good manners for our children is very important. My daughter [Maria] knows how to say thank you, you’re welcome, excuse me and please. But there is one thing that I didn’t teach her, like if someone will appreciate her dress/outfit, how pretty she is, they like her hair, eyes, smile and et cetera. In the nursery care at the YMCA, one parent said to Maria that she is very pretty, but my daughter didn’t say anything but smile. So the parent taught her how to say thank you.
What I do at home, everyday, I always appreciate my daughter pertaining to different things by giving her compliments. There was one instance, when I was complimenting her many times. Guess what? This is what she said, “Mama, that’s enough.” I thought it was very funny. And also, I was shocked, because in the first place she does not talk very much, and I wondered how did she learn those words?
Every word that my daughter speaks, I am very happy and excited to hear. The excitement is always there.

kids are very quick at catching phrases and words just by listening. it’s great that she already knows these valuable words at her age.

Maria is indeed very pretty. That’s cute when she said, “Mama that’s enough”. She is so smart. Keep teaching her good manners because she is a fast learner. Take care always. God bless you and your family!
Its nice to have your internet back!

i don’t remember saying thank you when I was complimented with how i look when I was young, it actually embarrassed me, i don’t know why.
and yeah it’s wiser to train kids while they are still young, they tend to absorb everything pretty quickly

kids learn very fast at that age… you will be able to teach her different languages and she will learn them all.
my niece in taiwan talks to her mom in english, her dad in mandarin, her grandparents in tagalog. bilib ako!

Teaching our children good manners at a young age is a great foundation for them.
Kids are fast learners. It’s wonderful to celebrate every child’s milestone.

@ GIRLIE: If someone appreciate how I look, talagang namumutla ako but I started to say thank you na instead of “hindi” naman. Gets mo? [wink]
@ JO: You are right Jo. We were watching a movie and Maria heard the bad words, she was trying to repeat after them.
@ RACHEL: Thank you Rach.
@ DAVID: Hi David, welcome in my blog.

The problem doesn’t come with us Raquel because we are educating them as much as we can. They spend most of the time at school and what they experience at school is a part of their education (between kids). Minsan their imitating other kid’s behaviour. So don’t worry it’s normal, I have heard a lot from my kids

Haze, we can’t avoid by blaming ourselves. I ask myself, baka nagkulang ako ng panahon kay Maria.
