Family First Movie in the Theater

Yesterday, all of us went to a movie in the theater. We watched Avatar. It was the first time for my children in a theater movie. Maria’s movie ticket was $6.50, and Bianca’s ticket was free, since children under the age of three years old are free of charge.

I didn’t enjoy the movie, because I had to chase Bianca inside the theater. But she enjoyed going up and down the stairs, and in between the rows of seats, and she even was behind the seats along the back wall; she was just the right size to move freely and quickly between the wall and the back of the seats. Fortunately, aside from the four of us there were only two other people there, a father and his daughter. I understand why Bianca did not enjoy the movie; it was because she is too young for Avatar, as it was not appropriate for her age. It would not have bothered me if she would have fallen asleep in my arms, but every time I would hold her in my arms, she would get restless and had to get away. So, I took Bianca, and both of us went to the lobby for about ten minutes. I was about to go home and leave Maria and hubby at the theater, but I didn’t. We went back in for a little while, but had to go back out for popcorn, and that calmed her down for a little while, but it was soon that she started running around again.

Definitely, we won’t be going to the theater again, for a good while, maybe not until Bianca turns five.

  1. I remember how my youngest would fuss inside the theater. Good thing Bianca is free and that Maria watched the movie quietly.
You’re right. It’s just a matter of choosing a movie that would interest kids. The last ones we saw where my daughter didn’t fuss so much were Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and Alvin and the Chipmunks 2. We saw Alice in Wonderland recently but she fell asleep in my arms, so that doesn’t count. :)

@Tani, I will try to watch another movie again. I’ll see to it it’s more entertaining for Bianca’s age. Kung hindi pa rin sya mag behave, I think I will wait nalang when she turns a little older. Showing pa dito ang Alice in Wonderland, do you think she will like this movie?

  3. We were able to watch Avatar when Hazel was in the province with her parents. Buti na lang kasi isa rin yung takbo nang takbo sa aisles. Did Maria enjoy the movie?

@Sasha, hindi nag enjoy si Maria sa avatar but she behaved naman. I think Maria is too young for this movie. On the following day, nanood kami ng Alice in Wonderland. Kami lang dalawa ni Maria tapos si hubby, nanood just him lang. This time, hindi na namin dinala si Bianca.

  4. When my kids were that young, we used to go to drive-in movies… that way, they can just play in the car or sleep, while hubby and I enjoy the movie. You should try that sometime…
