Maria and Bianca had their first haircut in a beauty parlor, while we were in the Philippines. I didn’t think to consider their first professional haircut as a milestone, because I started trimming their hair when they were little. It’s amazing that the both of them were remarkably well-behaved, while Efren cuts their hair, despite they were more difficult when I would do it. That is the reason why I always cut Bianca’s bangs very short, she would never hold still for me.

I like to see their hair long, but my daughter Maria wanted her hair to be short. She was not happy with her long hair, so I agreed with her for a haircut.

Bianca’s birthday cake theme was the Yo Gabba Gabba. She is a huge fan of this hilarious television show. She watches it all, over and over, on netflix. She was with me when I ordered her cake. While we were in the bakeshop, I showed her 4 beautiful and girly children’s cakes; but when she saw the Yo Gabba Gabba character, she screamed because she wanted it. Her first choice was the My Little Pony character; but after she saw the YGG cake, she never had any doubts or any problems making up her mind.

We didn’t go out to eat, but we enjoyed eating her cake. This time, I didn’t have a hard time for taking family pictures, because I had prepared it the day before her birthday.

She loves all the things about pretending and playing.

With my second child, Bianca, I did the same thing, but she wasn’t as enthusiastic as her big sister. Everytime, when we would start our reading session, she showed very little interests. She had a low tolerance for doing things other than what she wanted to do, and she still does. She would only cooperate for five to ten minutes, because she had other things that she would draw her attention to. My husband told me that I did not give her the same amount of attention, as compared to the amount of time that I had to give to Maria. If he only knew, I believe that I put in too much effort with Bianca. I became very frustrated, because I put so much effort into trying to help her learn, but I could not see that there was any progress. My husband told me that we need to find something that Bianca would be interested in. So, he bought a V-Reader and Bianca liked it a lot, and she still likes to use it. It has helped her to enjoy learning to read.

But, I had to take a break from her reading. I do believe that children grow and develop at their own pace. But now, at age 3, she is very articulate and expressive. Once in a while, I have asked her to read some words, just to test her general knowledge, without having taken the time to teach her. Now to our amazement, Bianca has advanced more than we had expected.

It has happened about two times that Bianca has chopped off her own hair. The last time she cut it real short. There was a lot of hair that she cut off. Her style of cutting made it look funky and funny. I wasn’t mad, because she was being creative and curious. After she cut her hair, she gave me a big smile. There are so many moments that she just cracks me up!

Today, she surprised me with a hair cut for her doll’s hair. She told me there was nothing to be worried about, because she cut it just a little. She also painted her doll’s chick bone with a colored pen. She said she wanted them to look pretty with make-up on.

Those dolls are just ordinary, so it is no big deal for me. But I’ll be mad if she cuts the American Girl doll’s hair.
