  • Bianca’s 2nd Birthday
    By Raquel on October 17, 2009 | 9 Comments9 Comments Comments
Two weeks ago, my daughter Bianca turned two years old. It seems like just yesterday that she was born. Looking back with her old photos, she was so tiny and fragile. Now, she is active and healthy. She likes to jump around, climb into things, and she isn’t afraid to try new things. For Bianca: It is a pleasure being your mother. What I love most about you is the ways you make me feel complete. When I am angry with you because you don’t listen, you have taught me how I can control myself, and you make my patience ever longer. You are so funny, and you crack me up, especially, every time, ...
  • First Visit to a Library
    By Raquel on October 14, 2009 | 5 Comments5 Comments Comments
The Cleveland public library sent invitations to Maria’s school, this invitation was for all children for their first visit to a library; with this they sponsored an event which they called a Library Bear Picnic Party. For this, they created many activities inside the library: storytelling, a puppet show, painting, scrap, giveaways and more. She had a lot of fun, especially, when someone performed during the puppet show as a bear. Although Maria is only 4 years old, I am and have been training her to like and love to read books. One of these days, we will go to the library to have her get he...
  • 71 Miles in September
    By Raquel on October 5, 2009 | 4 Comments4 Comments Comments
After my long vacation in the Philippines, I am having a hard time to get back to my daily walking exercise. I was going to start in July, but my laziness beat me. But even now, I am still trying to get back on track to get fit, and hopefully I can shed more pounds of unwanted fat. Sometimes, I feel like giving up and quitting my diet; because, even though my stomach is full, I can still feel hungry; and that is when I end up eating the things that I am not suppose to. But, I don’t want to give up my dieting and walking routine. In the month of September, I have walked 71 miles, but this is...
  • Educational Channel

Educational TV channels like PBS Kids and Nickelodeon provide a safe entertainment for children, especially for preschoolers. These TV shows could help them in preparation for a proper school. It’s hard to admit that sometimes I use the television as my baby sitter, but the kind of programming has given me good results with my children. Most of the day, Maria and Bianca are watching television, but I’ll see to it that they can watch educational programming. Last night my daughter Maria showed me two different colors at the same time. Here is how our conversation went: Maria: Mom, this i...
  • Typhoon Ondoy in the Philippines!
    By Raquel on October 3, 2009 | 3 Comments3 Comments Comments
I am speechless just like the rest of the world about what had happened in the Philippines. Perhaps, it was the worst typhoon hit in the country. The massive floods turned the metropolis virtually into a sea and even those living in middle and high class villages and subdivisions weren’t spared. Malacañang declared a state of calamity in Metro Manila and 25 provinces in Luzon as the massive flooding paralyzed businesses and transportation. ...
  • Big Size for Small People

These days, Bianca likes to wear our shoes and socks; every time, when she puts them on, you will see the expression on her face that it is really nice and pretty on her. She always amazes me every single day. Her personality is starting to develop more and more; because, she does not babble as much now, but she is saying more words and saying them more clearly. ...
