Succesful Potty Training in 1 to 3 DaysBy Raquel on September 7, 2009 | 6 Comments
Two days ago, I started to potty train my 23 month old daughter, Bianca. A week before, she showed signs of being able to potty train. I saw her squat above her toy pot, and it looked like she was wanting to pee. I thought she is ready for potty training. Potty training is really hard. Not all can do this job, though some parents have hired someone to potty train their children. There are some children that do not become potty trained until they reach the age of 3 or 4. When I potty trained my eldest, hubby was helping me; but with Bianca, I have done it alone. During the first day, I almost g... -
Music Monday: BlackbirdBy Raquel on September 6, 2009 | 3 Comments
This is my first entry in Music Monday. I found this music while I was searching about photography. The owner of the website put this music as a background. I think, I had listen this song for a hundred times just to figure out the title. I went to youtube and type in the search button for “Blackbird”. Viola! I found it! I didn’t realized this is also the original movie soundtrack from the movie “I Am Sam”. I had watched this movie about 4 years ago. It was a good movie. Here is the song of Sarah McLachlan entitled, “Blackbird”. ... -
First Day of Pre-k SchoolBy Raquel on August 28, 2009 | 11 Comments
My daughter Maria did not get to go to the Pre-K program in the public school system, so we decided to send her to a private. There were not openings for Maria there, because of the income requirements. Two weeks ago, she started going to school in a Baptist Church pre-K program. She is going to school for 2 days per week, instead of 3. So far, she is enthusiastic about going to school. Everytime she wakes up in the morning she would tell me what day is. Now, she knows and can keep up the days of the week. She can’t wait to get in school every other day and she’s loving every minute of it.... -
Using Scissors and Cutting PapersBy Raquel on August 21, 2009 | 4 Comments
This is an overdue update of my daughter Maria. Well, here is the good news. She finally knows how to use the scissors, and she can cut different shapes perfectly. Three weeks ago, I started training her how to use scissors. At first it was hard for Maria to hold the scissors and the paper. Everytime she would follow the marked guide, her body moved towards that direction too. She kept complaining and became frustrated, because she didn’t know how to do it. I didn’t give up; but, instead, I would change something, so that she would not feel bored. Giving her rewards for her achievements wa... -
The Balikbayan BoxBy Raquel on August 18, 2009 | 6 Comments
While I was blog hopping, I landed at the website of JayDJ. One of her his entries caught my attention. It is entitled “The Balikbayan Box“. This video reminds me of when I was a kid. Every year, my aunt sent us a lot of goodies from the States. Sometimes, my sister and I would have a fight just trying to grab the favorite things that we liked; we would grab things like the chocolates first, and then soap and other things, from the box. Now, that I am in the states, I also send the same goodies to my family in the Philippines. The video gives me a big smile. It’s funny, but itâ€... -
BPI Frustrating ServiceBy Raquel on August 14, 2009 | 9 Comments
Here is my personal story and rant at the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI); this is based upon my actual experiences. To apply for a credit card in the Philippines is not easy. Most banks require you to present a statement of income or your employment documents. As a balikbayan, in the Philippines, I can’t present any of the requirements, because I reside outside of their territory. But at the Bank of the Philippine Islands [BPI], you can have a credit line, as long as you can deposit a minimum bond of Php 13,000; and that also means, your credit can’t exceed above your deposit. The pr...
